Our Mission: Japanese Learning Should Be Accessible, Cozy, and Community-Driven

We started The Kotatsu Club with one big, bold belief:

You shouldn’t have to be rich, fluent, or perfect to teach you OR your child a second language.

We know that Japanese resources are often gatekept behind high prices, steep learning curves, or content made for adults first, kids never. And we’re not here for that.

So we flipped the model.

All our educational content is 100% free.

That includes beginner-friendly printables, immersive activities, word lists, games, full on LESSONS, and more, designed for parents learning alongside their children, busy students, and every member of your household.

Our goal? To help every household around the world build a cozy, sustainable Japanese learning habit, without sacrificing their budget, their sanity, or their bond.

We’re not trying to be your sensei. We’re sitting beside you, figuring it out together.

That sounds great. But how does this business actually make money?

Our business model is simple: education first, optional purchases second.

We’ll never charge for language learning. Period. Part of why Kotatsu Club was founded is to ensure that culture is accessible to ALL.

Instead, we create optional digital products… like printable flashcards, digital tools, and other things that that make the journey easier and more fun.

Optional stuff.

Just the “helpers” you could realistically create yourself, if you want to. You can, and WILL, be able to completely teach yourself Japanese without spending a single dime purely though resources on this website.

Think of it like this:
